Need creative ideas and help remodeling camper/coop! :D

Hmmmm well THAT would be where drifts would help :(

But that does make me wonder... Would maybe wrapping the underside with tin or panels to keep the bottom warmer help? That's where most if the wind would go; right underneath it. The only windows on the north side are 2 little bathroom-like ones; I can insulate the north side with a big piece of particle board too, to buffer the wind a little more...

I might alwats get lucky, last year we had a very mild winter; only a few major blizzards... But the wind... Oh the wind is killer, 40 mph most of January... Hoping for happy medium? ;)

The wind isn't what causes frost bite. Proper ventilation means the moisture and warm air can move up and out of the coop. The moist air trapped in the coop combined with very cold air is what wil cause frostbite.

If you can cover your top vent with some type of wire cage, then the racoons coudnt get in and the moisture laden air will be able to go out of the vents.

Ah...gotcha... Hitca snag on that, then...asked DH how hard it would be to just pop that vent and out a piece of hardware cloth on it.... "Pretty hard, since it got epoxied shut..."

I guess that's one of the reasons the camper was parked permanently lol... Vent not accessible; going to have to use the windows. There are 2 located within a few inches of the ceiling, so maybe I can keep those cracked for air movement... It actually has better ventilation choices than my coop lol; its pretty handy! I'm beginning to think of a whole row of hillbilly chicken camper houses :p

Update... Chicks are in the way of where I want the roosts... But so far, so good... Older ladies seem to like the few new nesting boxes I do have set up for them; haven't found an egg in a tree or under the camper in about a week lol, all in where they belong :D

On these, I'm just going to screw a 2x4 in the front to keep bedding in, and maybe a couple of roosting bars...

Pretty soon, I'm going to fortify the front underside, and make a run out front, just in case the chicks decide they need to get out... I just put hardware cloth along the bottom 3' essentially dividing it in half.
