Thanks Everyone! I did end up putting the roosts above the shelving area! Three of the leghorns where on them tonite!
Not everyone is roosting yet, and yes, they are sleeping in the nesting boxes a few of them, cuddled up together. It has been cold, and they are still young. I have read what sounds like many here actually set the girls on the roosts--I guess I will start that soon. They are at the stage that they don't want much to do with me. Six weeks.
I stroked a couple as they sat on their roosts earlier. They were unsure, but tolerated it! I held a couple of the leghorns yesterday--it was grand! I will get a picture of the work we did today. I am thrilled that the roosts were used immediately--and yes, they must have flown there!! So cool.
