Need dosage help! Medicating this afternoon!

Ok, thanks! I'm trying to get these birds fixed up in the next couple days. Had a necropsy done and came up with a few issues, capillaria and gapeworms for one. Also need to treat for coccida :-( Gotta figure out that dose next.

You might want to research the dosing required to treat capillaria and gapes, I'm not sure 20mg/kg is the answer.

I treat my birds with liquid Corid:

Dosage:
9.5mL per U.S. gallon

Treatment:
Give Corid for 5 days, and only the Corid solution. Dump out waterer an fill with fresh water. I dump the eggs during treatment.

Curiously, are you saying not to worm and use Corid at the same time?

Quote: Sometimes free ranging chickens drink from puddles or containers that are collecting water. It counteracts with the Corid, and the Corid won't be as effective.

I don't think I've ever wormed and given Corid at the same time for that reason.... just in case.

Well, I don't have a scale exactly, I give a good estimate on weight...as best I can. A scale would be a good item to have! I gave them the .5 ml dose. Honestly I always make sure there's a bit more than that so if they cough/sneeze any out or block it from going down. Sometimes I have to give a bit more if they lose too much. If folks think I should give more, I can give more tomorrow when I have to dust them. Long story...the state vet at the Dept of Ag told me to worm them and give it a day or two before we cleaned out the coop again. We ended up having the 2 types of worms, lice, and coccidia. In the two birds necropsied the sick one was lice infested and had both worms. The other only had 1 type of worm, but no show of lice. Reguardless, we have to treat for the lice and do a complete clean out protocol. So tomorrow or Monday we'll do the coop clean out and douse the area in sevin dust. We had a warm enough day today to use some Sevin spray in and around areas I can't dust as easily. We have bitter cold coming Tuesday so I need it all done by Monday.

Thanks so much for the dosage help! You folks here at BYC are great!
