Need Genetics Help to Improve Lacing on GL Cochin Bantams

She does not show signs of double lacing on her breast or flanks therefore we can say she has at least one columbian gene. She does not carry dark brown Db and columbian because she has too much black in her neck hackles and the gold/red neck hackles would be a burnt orange/buff color. The Db gene would also extend lacing into the tail feathers.

The columbian gene is what causes the center of the feather to be a gold/red color on her breast. In eb birds, one columbian gene can clear the breast of most of the stippling so you get a single lace but to clear the back of the bird requires two columbian genes. As you stated, the thick lace would indicate only one Pg gene.

The birds may be carrying an undocumented melanizer that is adding additional black to the birds. I have seen the black that is at the base of the hackle feathers on a few of my birds. I did not do any work with the phenotype so I can not say much about the it- so it is only speculation on my part.

The bird below and on the right is dark brown and columbian restricted on birchen- you can see what the two do to the color in the hackles- same thing for males.
