Yesterday a baby duck was found in our parking lot at work. It was almost hit by a car, so some of the ladies watched over it while I found a pail that we could put it in. We assume that it had recently been abandoned by it's momma because it appears to have some type of problem. If you observe it, it's head is very wobbly and it's terribly uncoordinated as it cannot walk without falling over. It is a strong duck and jumps really high to try to get out of it's box, but for it to attempt to walk or just stand, it's really uncoordinated. I'd like to help it and have no clue on how to feed it. I had read to buy food without antibiotics or meds in it. The guy at the feed store said that chicken food is the same thing, so we went to the chicken isle and bought meal worm and also bought some packettes for the water that are probiotics and electrolytes. I asked a vet what to do and they suggested to just let the duck go and let nature take it's course. I can't do that, so can someone help? Hope that someone can also look at the picture and be able to tell be approximately how old this little fella might be!!! Thanks in advance!

You can use chick starter. The antibiotics they use now does not bother ducks. I use game bird or meat bird crumbles. It is for ducks and geese. The probiotics are great. I always use them on babies. At this point letting nature take it course would mean letting it die. You might have an animal rehabber that is close to you that would be willing to take it. If it lives you might want to pick it up a buddy at the local feed store. They are social birds and get very lonely.
