Your hubby asked you that? That is so funny. Best watch that cat! What kind of chick is that..am I seeing blue? Pretty color.

More pictures, of your next babies..love pictures, hoping everyone can post some pictures when their babies hatch. Thanks bustermommy!

She (thinking positive here) is an EE, hatched out of a blue egg. Has dark brown chipmunk markings. Her hatchmate hatched 10 minutes ago, out of a green egg. That's all I expect for another couple of days (stupid staggered hatch), then I'm hoping for 6 sussex (coronation and lt sussex), that were developing nicely.

The second egg pipped this morning and sat there with a fairly small hole all day. We were visiting a friend and soon after we got home, she started zipping and hatched about an hour later. She was obviously waiting so we could watch. She looks good and is drying off and will join her little friend in the brooder tomorrow morning.

ETA: The cat has climbed in the brooder with my other chicks (two weeks old) a couple of times now. She just tries to curl up with them. I think she think she's their mommy. She's just too funny. She doesn't try to hurt the chicks at all. But I still don't want her in the incubator or brooder.

That's right on time.

The one is pipped towards the middle of the egg though but hopefully it should hatch.

That's a neat story QJ...mine is from my grandmother..just like Vivian said. I have memories of her big red broody hen. And me getting excited about all of those eggs under her that were going to hatch. This I heard it for the first time...Don't count your chicks before they hatch. She then explained that not all would hatch. I just remember how cute it was when that mama went around the farm with those cute babies that did. And, I loved collecting eggs. Wanting to have those memories for my grandchildren. I have some blue eggs for them too, something I didn't see back in the day..soo, bustermommy, glad you got some EE's to hatch!

Yes, I love my ee's. I have three already, two laying, one lays green and one blue. People love the novelty! I also have a speckled sussex who lays pink eggs and a BSL who lays dark brown so my egg cartons are like Easter every day (the brown eggs are the color of dark chocolate).

The ee in the front in the second pic lays green eggs (I think, my dd keeps track of which ee lays what). These are the only two pics I have. She has a little bit of silver leakage on her chest and she lays every day for a couple of months, then takes a couple of days off, then lays every day for a couple of months again.

I thought she was a BSL because of no leg feathers and I was told she was either a BSL or cuckoo marans and she has no barring at all.

The eggs are definitely marans dark though with a few little speckles.

Oh no. It's easy to get mixed up. I dropped an egg last week and put a hole in the air cell. I candled tonight and the chicky died. I know how you feel.
