I have a mixed lot of good egg layers with one White Leghorn rooster and a mixed breed rooster so I expect some degree of mutt.
I do have some Welsh Harlequins ducks and this will be my first attempt at hatching them.
My first try was a little giant also. I have now converted it into a brooder. I am going to set the eggs tomorrow in an Eco 20 with auto turn that I just received.
Do you have a guess why your chicks died while pipping?
I think it was probably the humidity-I didn't use a hygrometer. I'd used 2 thermometers that read between 99.5-100.5
Hopefully, this time the Suro will do most of the thinking for me. I'm bewildered by the instructions-horrible translations and diagrams don't correspond with directions. It seems to be together and working though I'm perplexed by the evaporation pad-not much info on it just diagram on cutting it and folding into tent form. I'll have to look into that more.
If you have one for your Eco do you have any advice?
Ok hatching buddies, they are in. I keep running down there to check the temperature. I am so afraid its going to go up to like 103 and bake the eggs. I am so freaked out! Unreasonable fear?
EEP!
I'm setting 26 tomorrow 10 BCMs and 16 silkies if they all fit. They sent me extras and none were broken or cracked. I have a Brinsea it only holds 24.
OK..........We finally had a break from the bitter cold around here. I was finding many of my eggs frozen before I could get them into the house. The past 2 days have been above freezing so I knew the eggs I was collecting for the bater were not frozen.
5 good duck eggs and 5 good hen eggs ready for tomorrow AM
