Need hatching buddy! Setting 5 duck and 5 hen eggs Sat 1/16

I just couldn't keep my hands off, I candled this morning and I still have 8 little bodies in them eggs, all about the same size and all about the same size air cell. Fingers crossed, I hope I get a good hatch.

Funny story, DH goes out to do the morning feed yesterday, including opening the coops. He says he brought 2 eggs in. He said they were under a silkie. I just freaked. I looked in the fridge and of course there's one in there with an x on it! So I took the egg back out there and put it back. I had the 4 eggs in the bator, then one of my silkie's went broody, so I put the 4 under her with x's on them, since the other 2 are laying. And maybe DH should let me do the egg collecting!

Don't give up hope! There are several posts in Incubating/Hatching where that has happened and chicks have hatched. I had my LG spike yesterday to 102.9 and I hadn't checked on it for hrs.-don't know how the ee eggs are though. Hopefully your temp wasn't that high for long and yes, wafers aren't reliable. "...for the birds" lol

Stay positive!

GOod question... i put them in on friday the 15th at night... do I lock down in 4 days or do i count the 16th as day 1 and lock down in 5 days?

eep

Does everyone have their Brooder problems solved?

What to use?

Where to put it?

How to heat it ...Etc?

I have a timing issue. I need to get my birds from my last hatch to the outside brooder so the indoor brooder will be available for this

hatch. The challenge is getting the outdoor brooder warm enough for these almost feathered chicks.

I got chicks last year from a hatchery so I will be using that brooder again. Its just a rubbermade bin with a cover cut out and screen inserted and a lamp hung over. we use wood chips for litter but the first few days we put paper towels down on top of the chips.

easy to clean!
