This chick hatched out 2 days ago with the “help” of the other chicks. The others pecked always taking the top off the shell. After it pulled itself out of the shell I noticed that it yoke sac was still full and it still is 2 days later. This morning I found that it’s crop is fluid filled. It seems to be weak with spurts of energy. Any ideas what is going on and what I can do to help it

Not sure if my post got lost. Anyone out there have ideas to help her? Should I put her in with the other chicks or separate her? Any idea why her crop seems to be fluid filled? She’s not eating or drinking.

Sorry about your chick. She may just be a weak chick that may not survive. If you have some Poultry NutriDrench I would give a couple of drops, and try to get it drinking. I don’t hatch many chicks anymore, but if they are helped out of the shell, some do not make it. Hoepfully others will post.

I forgot to mention that I had started her on Save-A-Chick last night. Is it possible that the fluid filled looking crop is from that? I put the Save-A-Chick water And food with her with last night. Maybe she did drink it? Also, I didn’t realize the other chicks were pulling the shell off of her until it was to late. 😔

Crops sometimes don’t empty when the chick is weak or sick. The crop could still contain the fluid from last night.
Is there anything I can do? I put it in a bowl in the brooder high enough so the other chicks stop stomping on it. It seems a bit stronger since I’ve done that.

It might be that chick was hatched too early, sorta like how baby’s born premature are weak and have a higher mortality rate. Hope it survives :fl
That’s what I was thinking with the other chicks hatching it. Never thought the other chicks would do that, hatch out one of their own that is.
