Need help and advise on killing MITES ASAP

Oh, and for the second treatment (repeat in 7-10 days)
do I need to do the topical treatment again or can I do the dosing the water method?

I have cattle ivmerctin on hand, use it for heartworm prevention in my six dogs and cats.

SOO cattle ivomec is really powerful, so, how many drops?/

It is what I use; yes very powerful. To be exact: my bantam hen only gets 1-2 drops. My 5-7 lb hens get 3-4 drops. My 7-9 lb cockerels & roosters get 4-5 drops. I use it for my 3 dogs too. I've never used it for my cat. She gets checked by vet & mostly stays indoors (goes out a few hours a couple times a week).

For my dogs, .10 cc per 10 lbs of body weight (so my 10 lb Maltease gets .10; my 50 lb red bone hound gets .5 cc and my 70 lb dog gets .7cc (Notice it is POINT SEVEN (7/10s of 1 cc) ). I have noticed that sometimes my dog will throw up after dosage.

Ok, everybody on the place got treated today.
is it repeat in 7-10 days or 10-14 days?
wild catching that many chickens
we ordered leg bands for them too so we could band them and know which ones we had already treated
tried hard to keep the dosage to 3-5 drops depending on their size
part of me thinks they will all be dead in a day or two from the treatment but I"m sure they wont' be
(fingers crossed)
thanks for all the help all

I'm a new chicken owner, so sorry if my questions are stupid. We have paste ivermectin for our horses, who get it monthly.

*How often do the hens need to be treated with ivermectin?
*Should they get it as preventative or only when mites/fleas are present?
*What other treatments/vaccinations do they need?

THANK YOU for your help. I just got the coop and two hens on Christmas, so am just learning about caring for the girls.

Hi,

Thanks for this information on the Ivermectin. I just found mites on my BR this evening. I went in to coop after dark and found gray specks crawling around her face. I use DE in the coop but they free range occasionally and could have picked them up anywhere.

I'm curious about the previous poster's question about the ivermectin paste. Is the paste an option? Just wondering as I will have to get to TSC and find out what is available to me.

One question,
If you use ivermectin to treat the mites, are the eggs still edible? I know there are some deworming treatments that folks say you need to stop eating their eggs for a certain period of time?

Many thanks!
