Need help and advise on killing MITES ASAP

Right my chickens have mites that I need to kill not worms. I was just asking how long I had to wait before I could eat their eggs again with ivermectin. Thanks!

My sultans were heavily infested with mites when I got them. I tried 7dust, did not work. I tried ivermectin spot treatment, did not work, I gave them some ivermectin horse paste..It got rid of worms I had no idea they had.

Eventually I did more research and found a dog spot on med (fipronil) which I took a chance and used. It eradicated the mites completely. I did not have to reapply again. Some discussion said it might not be totally safe for chickens and could affect fertility. If it did affect fertility is was before my girls were in good enough condition to even lay. I get 100% fertile eggs now. I was never interested in eating their eggs.

Do your research and do not rely totally on what people tell you. There is enough information on the internet to make informed decisions, if something isn't working, try something else.

As for eating eggs, after any medications it's best to discard the eggs for a while.

Coming across this thread, Ive discovered a young bantam cochin of mine has been down and out for a few days, droopy wings, one eye closed avoiding the flock and not roosting at night just huddling in a corner...I am praying and hoping he/she will pull through but knock on wood havent noticed any signs on the other chickens or in the coop....are some more prone to having them than others? and I didn't notice it around the vent area at all more up on her wings....any input from experienced? I have started dosing with ivomec and cleaning out the exterior of my coop....hoping that will work!

I am currently treating my flock for mites and was wondering if ivermectin was safe to use on my 7 week old runner duck and I have a year and a half year old who is recovering from an injury ...

I have talked to some people at our local swaps and some friends that have experienced mites this year. We have had a lot of rain this year and with the heat, mites. This year was the first time any of my birds had mites. I use the permethrin spray, which I purchased at Tractor Supply. I bought the concentrate and mixed it with water, and a good sprayer. I have several coops so the larger sprayer works well for me. I spray everything in the coops, walls, floors, ceilings, on and under the roosts, inside and outside of the nest boxes, every crack and crevice where mites can hide. In the evening after the birds went to roost I gave them a spray. Repeated application is necessary because it does not kill the eggs. Initially I sprayed weekly. No more mites.

I had tried spray also and even spread some garlic and the coop is looking better I'm just still seeing some on my birds and want to help them get rid of them any thoughts...I've cleaned, sprayed, added some garlic to food, dusted, put nu stock on legs and more but I still see them on their feathers...
