It is in the shade allmost all day they have. A small pool they can get in and stand and drink from also Mother water dish and a 5 gallon waterer in the coop. I have been misting 3x a day and changing water every time

This is just an idea... But perhaps the Corid isn't treating the correct strain of Cocci that your birds have? I would have to research what strains Corid treats versus what strains Sulmet treats...but I cant right now because I am at work and posting via my blackberry. You might want to see if Sulmet treats different strains than the Corid, and it might be worth switching meds. Your birds should have shown improvement by now if it is Cocci. The symptoms you have described sounds like Cocci. Since they are NOT on medicated feed and they've only been on the dirt for 2 weeks, coupled with the symptoms, I really think you may be dealing with Cocci. I sure do wish you the best of luck. Sulmet works fast, but it is tough on birds, but it might be worth a try since you are still losing birds. Just an idea...

Ok- I was able to do a limited search on my blackberry, and Corid treats 2 strains of Cocci- E. Bovis, and E. Zurnii. Sulmet treats E. Meleagrimitis, E. Coli, E. Adenoedies, E. Necatrix, and E. Tenella. The strain E. Tenella, specifically, is associated with bloody diarrhea, as not all Cocci presents with blood in the diarrhea. Sulmet also treats a few other ailments as well. I believe it said Coryza was one of them. IMO, I would switch to Sulmet since it covers a wider spectrum and the Corid isn't helping. First State Vet Supply website has A LOT of very helpful info on Cocci.

Well I keep losing chickens lost 2 more and had to cull one that couldent move from neck down just invoulintary movements so that is 5 more today I have now lost half of,my chickens I can't find any where that has the sulmet going to try a cpl of mote places tomarow any other ideas of what could be going on my ducks keets and sitting hen seam to be unaffected

Ehhh... If they are unable to move from the neck down or are experiencing paralysis I think you may be dealing with something else entirely. Could it be Marek's disease? Symptoms for Marek's according to my Chicken Health handbook include: enlarged feather follicles or white bumps (tumors) on skin that scab over with a brown crust. (Skin form of Marek's); stilted gait or lack of coordination, pale skin, wing or leg paralysis. When both legs are paralyzed, one points forward, and one points backwards. Rapid weight loss, gaping, or gasping, transient paralysis lasting 1 to 2 days, dehydration, emaciation, coma, death. Does any of this sound like your birds?

Not showing those sings I think might be just so week that they can't hardly move because legs still point in same dirrction and can move wings a little so I don't know

Sorry- I seem to be taking over your thread. Hopefully somebody else can chime in here to help to. I just want to try to help you. I had another thought. Could it be Botulism? You said you have ducks. Ducks can really soil up the water, and make the conditions right for botulism especially if there is organic material that gets into the water. Symptoms for Botulism are; sudden death, leg weakness and drowsiness followed by progressive flaccid (not rigid) paralysis, paralysis of legs, wings, and neck, difficulty swallowing, ruffled loose feathers, lying on side with outstretched neck and eyes partly closed, somwtimes trembling, diarrhea, coma, and death.

Treatment; Remove source of poisoning from yard. Move birds to cool environment. Squirt cool water into crop twice a day. Flush with molasses or Epsom salts.

Epsom salt flush: 1 tsp Epsom salts in 1/2 cup water, poured or squirted down bird's throat twice a day for 2-3 days or until birds recover

Molasses flush: 1 pint molasses per 5 gallons water, given no longer than 8 hours.
Maybe someone else will have a better idea.

It could be worms...I had the same exact thing going on with them. Each day I would get about 2, 3 or even 4 more dead guineas.

I cut one open and found worms in the intestines. I would give them some Wazine wormer. After the treatment, you can't eat the eggs for 14 days. Even if they don't have worms, the Wazine will prevent them. Good Luck and Keep us updated!

What is the dosage on wormer I will try that do u think it would hurt to do the molasses as well I don't think that would be it I cempty and spray out pool every day and there water the sane way and I appricate the info so far

Im kind of experiencing the same thing, I am loosing mainly 2-3 month old chicks but have started loosing older hens, roosters and even a duck. My guinea's are unaffected. They will be fine one time and then the next dead or so close to dead I think they are until I pick them up. I posted my issues today. I wonder if anyone else is having similar problems as we are both located in the mid west perhaps its not just us.Good luck and keep me updated. I started with over 100 and am loosing between 2 and 5 a day for two weeks straight now.
