Hi I've a bit of a chicken emergency and need advice - I've four week old chicks (some mostly feathered others mostly fluff with little wings) and our heat lamp blew last night :/ we wrapped their brooder with a blanket and they all survived the night (albeit unhappily) I heard if you feed them cayenne pepper it'll help keep them warm - can I free feed it or will they overdose? are they even old enough to give it to? Are there any other powerless ways to keep them warm? I've heard of using a hot water bottle but the brooders in the coop and it would cool down too fast :/ Thanks for any help guys!! I've 9 chicks in the brooder if that helps.
