I guess it does. Thanks for your warm wishes!

You need to rehydrate her with electrolytes before you start feeding her food. When you do start feeding her, make it very small quantities at first and go very slow even if she is begging you for it. When an animals goes into starvation their digestive systems shut down and it takes a while to restart it. If you feed her too much right now, the food will rot in her tummy and can cause a painful infection, sepsis, and death.

Good luck and I hope she pulls through! Keep us posted!

I just read about you cat, how sad and happy, I am so glad you found her in time, and I hope she keeps getting stronger, she's a very pretty cat even covered in pine pitch! I'll bet she will stick around the house for a long time to come. What nasty neighbors! Shame on them for not letting you know, even if they didn't know it was your cat they could have said something to you and let you check it out!

I too Wish for a Well Recovery for your cat !!!

Kitten food will be better than cat food now, because it has more calories. So what little she eats will be more beneficial to her weak body.

Living in the country we have had alot of cats 'dropped off'... so I've nursed more than one skinny weak cat back to health. You can keep feeding her kitten food for awhile to put her weight back on her in the coming wks sooner than what reg cat food would.

I wish you continued success with your poor kitty. I agree with the poster who said she probably need electrolytes.

If she were mine, I would go to a specialty pet food store and get her a few cans of super-premium cat food. Mix up the brands and flavors.

Some of the brands to look for include: Evanger's (my personal fave!); Fromms; Eagle Pack; Wellness Core, Innova; Wysong; etc...

UPDATE ON MY KITTY:

She is doing great! She is eating 5 small meals each day now and starting to put on some weight. We have managed to get a lot of the pitch off of her and shaved quite a bit of her fur off.....but she seems to feel a lot better. She has also tried to sneak out of the house several times. We now keep her confined to the second floor of the house so that she doesn't get out. Thanks for all of your suggestions.
