. My buffs normally smush against eachother, leaving plenty of space. I sometimes even find one pushing it's head under the other's feathers! Just make sure they have a nice 2x4 because they are not the type of birds to be able to perch on thin planks. They need a wider surface than something like a branch as their toes are not built to curl too much like some birds. Have fun with your chicks!
Thanks and do they need a 2x4 or will a 2x2 work for them??No problem! We have roughly a meter long 2x4 for the 2. Our Jersey Giants rarely sleep on the 2x4, Just make sure they have a nice 2x4 because they are not the type of birds to be able to perch on thin planks. I have BOrps, and found that when they were small, a narrow roost was fine ...... but now that they are larger, they don't so much perch at night as sit on their feet.... and will sit on the wire poopscreens rather than use the narrow roost bar that I gave them months ago ..... I just replaced it with two 1x4 (chicken tractor- saving weight) roosts laid flat. They are using those now instead of the floor. I find that mine also like to "smush together" on the roost, even when it's a hot muggy summer night.......My buffs normally smush against eachother, leaving plenty of space.
