I'm looking for a breed that requires a small amount of space (about 3 sqft per bird) as I'm going to have a 4x8 coop with 10x10 attached run for 12 birds.

I would also like a breed with excellent egg production 4-5+ per week.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me :)

Hum,
chicken math is 4 sq. ft per bird inside and 10 sq. ft. in the run for large fow;. How about bantams? Halve all these numbers for bantams. 4x8=32 sq. ft. @ 2 sq. ft. per bantam that will handle 16 birds. Your 100 sq. ft. run will handle 20 bantams.
for 12 large fowl, you need a 6x8 coop and 10x12 run. But if you had a small breed between bantam and large fowl your numbers would work. Is there an egg layer thread on BYC you could check out?
Best,
Karen
How about bantam Rhode Island Red or bantam White Leghorns?
