Need help diagnosing suddenly very weak 7.5 week old chicken

Is there any chance that bug spray (the stuff that gets sprayed along the perimeter of baseboards and outside has been used in your house? It could be residue causing poisoning - the other common thing is herbicides used in the garden reactivated after exposed to moisture (sprinklers or rain) …

That's a good question. My pest guy assures me that his pesticides are pet and kid-friendly. He uses a spray, there hasn't been any rain or excessive water exposure.

Unfortunately what's pet safe is meant for dogs and cats … but birds have a whole other thing going on. I'm not saying that's 100% it - but you may want to see what the active ingredient in the pest guy's spray is and look it up to ensure it's bird (chicken) safe.

OP called it a she, so likely they know.
You would be surprised how many people don’t know the genders of their young birds. It takes some experience, and when people are new to chickens, they often guess wrong until the bird is old enough to be very obvious.

This bird in question does happen to be male, from what I can see.
@Suburban-nite , I hope he pulls through for you.

Funny, we've been wondering if s/he is a roo or a hen. Chicken isn't crowing, so it's a hen until further evidence. :)
I'm by no means an expert but, when I saw the picture of your sick baby, I thought it was a cockerel too! So, I'm going to go with LeFleche and Finnie. They are experts at this and LeFleche has helped me tremendously when my 8 week Polish was recently peck to near death.
IT'S A BOY!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR LIL ROO!!!

I just called UC Davis, the pathologist helped me figure out how to submit our bird for necropsy today.
Sorry to hear about your bird! I've seen so many animals die while ranching, I've lost count. While I'm no longer emotional about it, it's sad all the same.
A goose I bought had had her mate killed by Round Up on grass. It could likely be the poisoning or even just an internal failure. We've had plenty of those unexplained ones happen here.
