THanks everyone, its just so funny that my sis has I think 7 broodies with hatching eggs that she purchased and I just gave her 10 eggs for another that has gone broody as well. I appreciate the info, still new to chickens, I just love my silkies as they are broody often and are great moms!

Oh, and I will tell my sis its not her water, its genetics!

I have a problem of one of my young brown shavers it has been broody for a while now she doesnt come out of the chicken house. I have tried to keep taking her out and feeding her with the other chickens and we have also been told to dunk her bottom in cold water but that hasnt worked. What can i do to stop her from being broody as she is now loosing her feathers on her chest.. Please help

the hens will cycle in and out of broodyness, the loss of feathers is becuse to line the nest they pluck them out if you keep taking her out and dont let her sit on eggs

She is not actually laying any eggs as the eggs are being laid on the other side of the egg house as we have 4 egg boxes either side.. shes been broody for about 6 weeks now and worried that she is missing out on the nutrition ..

You should search breaking a broody. It's not good for her health to be broody so long.
