need help? hens pecking each other

My father in law has rir hens that have peck the hair off their backs. He read put wheel bearing grease on them but it did not work. The places are starting to look raw. Any help would be appreciated?

try hangin the greens from a string from top of run to give them somethin else to peck at.

Also--make sure they have enough room--4ft/bird in coop and 10ft/bird in run. Make sure they are eating a good quality laying ration with just enough scratch for a treat. He might want to supplement the protein with game feed, washed cottage cheese, scrambled egg, or some people use cat food. Also make sure they have plenty of grit, oystershell and fresh water at all times. There are products made for this such as blu-kote, or pick-no-more that might be more effective.
