Hello everyone,
I bought this adorable chick from our local feed store and they ensured me it was a Bantam Silkie; however, as she gets bigger, I'm thinking they were wrong since she doesn't have the attributes of a Silkie. She doesn't have black skin, she only has 4 toes, she has feathers, and no poofiness to her head. I'm thinking she might be a barred Cochin? Can anyone help to identify her for sure?

Thanks!

That looks like a Barred Cochin to me. Feed stores often make mistakes like that.

Thank you! I've been using the site long enough to find answers to questions, I'm surprised it's taken me this long to actually create an account!

Yes feed stores often make mistakes like that. Your cute little chicks is a barred cochin.

I love your avatar! I have that same saying on my bedroom door!

What kind of feed store employee would think a chick like that was a silkie - truly boggles the mind? The chick you have is a beauty . Didn't he guarantee a certain sex as well?

No clue, I wondered the same thing myself. I guess that's what happens when they hire high school kids as their chicken experts :/
I don't recall if they were supposed to be sexed or straight run. I'm hoping it's a female though, I don't want any more roosters!
