I would close the run door at night. Extra security is always good. You don’t want this creature to return and find your hens a tasty snack!

Oh the coop itself is predator proof I rate it safe for anything that isn't a Jaguar or Bear. Since we have neither I'm comfortable my hens are safe at night. Thank you for your advice.

From the pics I would say coon, set out a live trap baited with cantaloupe or honey dew mellon. This will get coons, possums, ground hogs and many others. Note if its is a big coon it will destroy a live trap to get out! T - 1 live trap,,,, I then set foot traps near the melon piece. also in a place that the dogs, etc are not going to be in.

I might sneak some of those dog safe foot snares into my next amazon order, obviously without consulting the vegan in the house. I am inclined to believe coon on this one I just can't imagine a possum making nuggets that size.
