Need help in Tennessee -please

BigCreek I can mix the Ivermectin with water? Can you please tell me how LOL it seems much easier like you said then catching them one at a time. I only know what Deerman told me to do, but he never told me it can be mixed with water. Is this safe for ducks too? I doubt it cause they are always in the water containers. I got eggs in a mystery swap and only one egg hatched and it was a duck so I hatched another for company. also what is eprinex for? I know the other is pour on for cattle. Ivermectin is suppose to be .25cc for an adult and Deerman said to do 1cc cause the rest will go into the feathers and be wasted.

Thanks Yoda- I got the safeguard. I've got the pour on ivermectin, which I like because then you know they've been wormed.

BigCreek, are you comfortable that the Eprinex is effective on cecal and capillary worms? I may have to add this to my rotation! What is the dosing you are using?

For those that dont know, both Eprinex and Ivermectin can be dosed orally or on the skin. Take your pick. Our pre winter and pre egg laying wormings are done orally. The other two are done on the skin and by waterer. A round of safeguard orally will test your commitment to peafowl if you have more than a few.

Yoda,,I'm laughin here too,,I knew it started with the letter E,,and i remembered the container was yellow,,and I was in southern Indiana when I seen it,,I'm terrible with names,,it all started with those first AARP mailings on my b-day last year,,at least Bigcreek came to my rescue and can vouch for this stuff I was trying to describe.

Eprinex is eprinomectin. Similar to ivermectin. Same class of wormer. It does great for buffalo gnats and that is the main reason why we tried it in the beginning. The gnats were so thick and just stripping all the feathers of the peas head and neck. I use .25 mL under each wing for a total of .5mL (1/2 mL).
It is not effective against capillary worms and I would not use it to control cecal worms either.

Yoda, Ivermectin can be added to the water, but it is oily and floats to the top. You can stir it several times a day and it will work if you do that.
And a no no for ducks since they drink huge amounts of water. My vet says he has seen ducks that have OD on ivomec in the water.

Safeguard, valbazen, levamisole all 3 kill capillary and cecal worms. The two most deadly to peafowl. Cecal worms are not as lethal by themselves as capillary. But they can carry blackhead and that is definitely bad news.

I agree that you must love your peas to do the catch method regular. When we are done I feel like I've been in a fight, and lost. The java's are the ones who are a pain. So much stronger and wow do they put up a fight.
