Need help making a decision ... wound and maggots

Oh, I'm sooo glad she's a little better. Sometimes just the thought of what they might need can be overwhelming. So knock the devil off your shoulder, know who you are in Christ and keep looking forward!! Keep us posted on how she is...and you too!

Trish, I know what you mean about the dark cloud. I know what you mean when you say things must change. My thoughts are with you. Gator, thank you for the bold proclamation of Christ's love.

Yes, thank you Gator, and thank you too bionic. I can really use that kind of encouragement, and I appreciate it.

I just hope EVERYbody stays healthy now. After spending that time with the other kitten this morning and what I went through with him, every time his sister does any funny little thing or twitches in her sleep, She is up playing madly though for the first time, so I hope she'll be ok.

The chicken ... well, I haven't seen any maggots in a couple of days now. Some of the tissue looks darker though around the edges, so I hope it's not dying/dead tissue still attached.

She was working to groom herself a little, and she's walking around a little.

I hope this injury doesn't cause her to tend to become egg-bound on a regular basis if/when she gets better. I can't see how she can be ok ... I think what I am seeing is internal organs just behind the keel bone. But so far they are staying in place too.

I do wish I could get a pic. I will try to get some help with holding her.

ty again ... think I'm gonna get some sleep after staying up with kitty so long last night.

Nite!

Just saw this thread and wanted to say that I am so sorry for all you are going through. It is obvious that you are such a kind and loving person. Things will get better. Just remember that you are one person, you can only do so much and don't beat yourself up over the things you can't do. I am really glad she is improving. Good luck with everything you have going on.

Glad she seems better. And about kitty too.
I hearya about the cloud...
there's an old saw about "God never gives you more than you can handle"...
Sometimes I think she's gotta heckuva nerve.

Prayers for you and your critters.

I'm so glad she's doing a little better.

I think that very often, God gives us more than we can handle so that we are reminded to lean on him. And he often puts other lean-able folk in our path so that we can lean on them, too because he knows how limited our faith can be and how seldom some of us will lean on him. (YMMV) I'm sorry you're having such a hard time and glad that you have this place, because it's certainly full of lean-able people!

I must say, thus far, being a newby to this forum I feel blessed that I found this community.

It is evident the care and concern not only for the life of God's creatures but for the well being of the people caring for them.

Love in Christ,
Gretchen

Glad she's doing a little better - clearly she has the will..... She probably should be on antibiotics asap if not already (and yogurt to restore the good bacteria). I can't quite picture whether there is an external wound that could benefit from topical neosporin. Keeping her hydrated (especially) and eating will give her strength. I've found that healthy treats can help get them through tough times, because they help lift spirits - fruit, veggies, sunflower seeds, scrambled egg........

I am really sorry about your missing 10 year old cat. And about your other troubles. I hope the lost kitty is found no worse for wear. Sending lots of good wishes.

Thank you all so much for your kind words, prayers, and well wishes. It warms my heart and really is a help to me.

I'm afraid the chicken didn't make it. She seemed to be doing better. At least she tried and I did as well. That's actually the first chicken (except for a day-old that died after shipping last year) I've lost out of 50+ I have now, although we did also lose a duck a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately.

Thankfully all the other animals seem to be doing well. The cat who had surgery is recovering from his abscess (though he HATES his meds). And the kitten still makes me worry, but maybe that's only because I've had so much trouble with various animals lately. She's actually eating so well I'm afraid she may pop, plays like a maniac, is growing in her missing hair, and her eyes seem to be improving. At least I know she can see, now that she is playing. I wasn't sure what to expect if she ended up being blind.

I just wanted to thank you all so much. I don't like tying up the emergencies forum when it's not an emergency anymore, but in case anyone was still looking for a way to get my girl to oldtimegator for the kind offer to care for her, I wanted to say it isn't necessary. And to just thank you all so much for your kind thoughts, words, and prayers. It has meant a lot to me. these last few weeks have been very very hard, and adding in the animals' sicknesses and injuries hasn't made it easier ... children or animals sick or in pain are especially hard for me.

God bless all, and thanks again,

trish
