Cats leave feces in a very obvious place only to strongly mark their territory. I know that it doesn't translate well:sick:, but she's saying that she's nervous about being able to stay but really really wants this place to be hers.

What you can do to help her transition (and stop that from happening again!!!!!!!!!!) is to set her up with a smaller "territory" that's hers and only hers. LOL, I've put a screen door reinforced with chicken wire on a closet and that works very well, but a bedroom, bathroom, even an ultra large dog crate. Get a brand new litter box. Until you can get to the store a cut off cardboard box reinforced with a garbage bag will work. The idea is something that doesn't smell like any other cat (that she has to defend her new, incredibly precious possesion - you) from.

Make sure that wherever she is, other critters can't come and stare at her. Let her settle in without that sense of competition. Like a new dog, only let her out when you can be with her. Make sure that's for several hours a day and she should settle in just fine.

RiverOtter- That makes sense. I have her in the bathroom but I keep letting her out with supervision. Shes clawing at my Camoflauge couch and that could get her the boot! Yep the camo boot!

I really want to keep her but if I dont get her trained then DH is gonna get rid of her! I keep telling him she will come around to our way of thinking. I read him your post!

Easy-peasy to trim a cats claws.

Take a regular nail clipper, I mean yours, not a pet one. If you gently squeeze a cat's toe, the nail will extend. The nail is clear, you can see the vein, but don't even cut that much. If you hold the clipper under the paw at a 90% angle, when you extend the claw, the "hook" will go right into the clipper.

Also, just like when you cut your own nails, a cat's claw has a long side and a skinny side. You wouldn't put the cutting edge of the blade against the skinny side of your nails, beccause it would twist and crush before cutting. Same with a cat's claw. Cutting edges agains the wide sides of the claw.

Don't try to do them all at once, one at a time with lots of petting and only when kitty is calm. I am at a decade low with only 5 cats and trimming nails saves lots and lots of wear and tear on my furniture!
This is easy. I used to do rescue and had cats in and out all the time, taming down ferals and the like. Cat's don't object to this unless you crush the nail or try to do them all at once the first time. Just one or 2 here and there. You can also get one or 2 done while they're sleeping

What a beautiful classic tabby! When the side stripes are in a 'bullseye' pattern like that, it's a classic tabby. When the stripes go down the side like fish rib bones, it's a mackerel tabby. The genes for classic are recessive, so mackerel tabbies are much more common. I love classics.

I'm kind of surprised she's a girl. A lot of red tabbies are boys. She looks incredibly loving. Somebody dumped or lost a great cat. Most likely dumped
