'Taboo' (because for centuries the Breton language was forbidden in France!)

Brittany spaniels are from a very unique region of France - Bretagne (pronounced, 'bret - on - yah'), one of the few places in the world where is still spoken a Celtic language (like Welsh, Manx, Scottish, Irish).

So Bret, or Brezh (in the Breton language), for where he's from.

There's a great Breton dish of buckwheat pancakes full of ham and eggs called Galette (hard g like 'goat' - 'Gah - let'). It is really like saying 'Breton' as it's synonymous with being Breton!

There's a drink of cider-black currant juice called Kir (rhymes with 'here').
