NEED HELP NOW!!! Baby chick wont pick up his head

the vitamins should kick in fast, i know i have a silkie roo that it seems chronic, so i put vitamins in the water, after he recovered- you might put him with a mellow chick for company...

just put the vitamins on the tip of his beak, he will instinctively lick it up, sometimes it works to put it on your finger and he'll suck it in- twice a day for 5 days should fix him up...

thanks so much for the help!!!

Looks like wry neck to me. I mixed yogurt, mash, a vitamin E capsule and poly-vi-sol and handfed for a few days. I also gave a few drops directly to the beak every day. My silkie returned to almost normal. When she gets nervous, she gets a neck twitch.

he seems to be doing better, I have not seen him putting his head down on the ground to much, and he is eating. he seems to be pretty happy with the rest of the babies.

Sounds like it is working. Great!

To isolate a chick without totally isolating him from the others, I made a small open box out of hardware cloth. Put it over the chick in the brooder with food and water inside. They still don't like it, but it is better than keeping the chick totally alone. It sounds like you may not need to do something like this with this chick, but I'll mention it just in case.

he does seem better, but is still doing the head between his legs thing. however he is not scooting backwords anymore. so i guess i will just keep giving him the vitamins and see what happens. also would it be safe to put some vitamin E into the general water for all of them to drink, would that help to prevent this from happening to anymore of them?
