Need help NOW! Emergency hatches! Please advise!

4H-
It's alright if the eggs are left in the turner, they can hatch in there just fine. If you knew for sure the hatch date, then I'd say take them out and put them into the hatcher, but otherwise...the turner is fine. There can be injuries, although I don't think it is all that often. I've had a chick hatch early in the turner..it was alright.

If you moved all the eggs to the hatcher now, you may risk losing some that would have otherwise hatched. From what you said, it sounds as if at least some of the eggs were freshly laid when you got them, which would put them very close to your calculated 13th day. It's a judgment call, really. Do what you are more comfortable with.

Best thing to do, imo, is to leave them in the turner and closely monitor them. When you see one has pipped, or if you hear it peeping- go ahead and move it to the hatcher. After my surprise hatch in the turner, I watched the others and moved them when I saw a pip (until the batch reached the correct day to be moved into a hatcher and I moved them all). The ones I had pip in the turner and moved at that point to the hatcher all hatched out fine.

When you do move them into the hatcher, they ought to orient themselves into the correct position. Don't worry too much- you and the chicks will be fine.

Good Luck and Keep us posted!

You and your family are always in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you a 100% hatch....maybe Dh will let you keep them all! LOL

Ok, news! First little one has made a HUGE hole (thought they were supposed to zip?) and I can clearly see and hear it working away! Its broken through the membrane so I know it can breathe too. This morning, I found 3 peeping and 1 more had pipped! Transferred those 4 to the hatcher too. Now second pipped has pushed away the pipped part of the shell but not yet broken the membrane. Membrane on that one looks tougher. If its not broken through, can I drop a drip of water to help soften it up a little? Oh yea, and pics coming just gotta upload them!

Its so cool to watch his/her little beak open and close and it peeps back at me when I peep at it! I keep saying incouraging things like "Come on little one!" and everytime I do it wiggles and pushes! Aw! I LOVE this! My daughter will be SO excited when she wakes up!

PS...on a side note, should I be worried that its made a hole, rather than zipping its way out? The chick is very lively and active and LOUD!
