Mine go crazy over cucumber, cut into small cubes. Lots of water in it.

Don't worry too much yet about drinking or eating. She's in shock and needs time. Dark, clean, quiet place is good. Give her the night to rest. Then tomorrow make sure she has food, watery treats like grapes and tomatoes, and water with electolytes available. Keep that neosporin on her! Hang in there.

Give her some time to recover. It has been a huge trauma. If she doesn't start drinking, use a dropper and drip it into her beak. If you can get electrolytes into her, that would really help. Right now though, she needs to just rest.

Hang In there! She may be ok. I have a chicken "Princess Crinkle Toes" who was attacked by a bear last spring. She is doing GREAT today. That bear ripped a huge chunk of flesh from her butt. It took many weeks of cleaning wounds and keeping her isolated from everyone else, but she recovered just fine. No need to cull her just yet. Good luck, keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Chickens are amazingly resilient creatures and I've had birds pull through with wounds similar to this and also much worse. I also use Vetericyn. It works wonders! Just do as most others here have said. Give your girl a safe, warm, clean environment to rest and recover. Fluids first. It might take a day or two until she tries to eat or drink. Make sure to keep the wound as clean as possible to prevent infection. In my experience, I usually do a very good initial wound cleanse and then just spray Vetericyn on 2x a day and monitor for signs of infection. Hoping for the best for you and your little girl. a lil asprin ill make er' feel a bit better keep it clean if it gets infect you could inject her with some penicillin as a last resort

we had one grabbed by a dog tore a big hole in her back. we kept washing it out and giving antibiotics in the water. the hole took a couple months to close and she's fine but not laying anymore
