My duck eggs are on day 29 and I’m very worried because none of them started a PIP yet does anyone know what to do because I really need help. The incubator has been on 37.5 and humidity 60 - 68 and there is a fan in it at the top.

Hello - Have you candled them to check for movement?

Did you mist them with warm water during incubation? I find that this helps them get out when it's time to hatch and when I don't, I am more likely to have to help them.

The first step would be to check their growth progress by candling.

Yes I cancelled them just and no movement that I can see and I did spray them from day 10 to day 16 then stopped but held the humidity high

I'm sorry that you aren't seeing movement. There is also a water test that can be done. Someone else would know better about that as I have never done it.

I wouldn’t personally recommend the float test on these eggs. If they were still alive this could potentially be detrimental. You didn’t see any movement when candling right? Maybe @shawluvsbirds or @MGG would have some advice. Maybe post a candling picture if possible? What breed of duck are these eggs?

I suggested the float test on some dead chicks yesterday and someone said bad idea which I thought was funny, I was thinking is it a bad idea because t would not work or because the chicks are most likely dead already.

If they happen to be alive then water on the shell is not advisable but it would be for the very last day so I couldn't see it being a problem either way anyway and it certainly beats the "throw is against a tree" test but I would also only do it as a last resort before throwing them away

@FunnyfarmMidwest It definitely wasn't taken that way. As I said, I don't know much about it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. 💞
@AgnesGray I’m glad. I was worried I might have come off wrong unknowingly. :hugs
I have hatched a lot of ducklings but have never been in this situation. I have had a lot of late stragglers or dis ducklings but I can usually tell by candling or I just hold off for a couple days even if I think hope is lost. Well wishes to you.

P.s. sorry you’re having trouble with your hatch @IJP28 :hugs

I had some hardship last hatch when I attempted call duck eggs. I just set a new batch and am hoping for better luck this time around.

You can usually find out what you need to know by candling.
If you see any red veins at all around the air cell then the chick is most likely still alive. At that stage they are ready to hatch and the duckling is filling up the shell to the point it is hard to see any movement. Any red active veins is what you will be looking for.
I would not float test unless it was a last resort.
Actually if I was fairly that certain they were probably dead already, I would open the air cell and moisten the membrane with coconut oil Vaseline or Neosporin and look for active veins and movement that way.
