Need help on home built incubator....

I'm sorry but that is absolutely wrong. I don't know what kind of incubator you have but the whole point of putting a thermostat inside the 'bator is so the temp inside stays the same, regardless of the temp outside. I absolutely love my "off the wall" mercury bulb thermostat. It is as accurate as a wafer thermostat,$1 from habitat and easier than a wafer to adjust. I have built two cooler 'bators for friends and have switched them both over from water heater thermostats to mercury bulb thermostats. If you have adequate air circulation there is no reason why this wouldn't work in your larger 'bator.
Good luck!

i have a ronco temp controller on my home made bator... and the outside temp does mess with the inside temp... my room one time got 95°F and the bator got to 103°F... it never goes over 100°F at all with this controller... so i keep my room pretty cold... i don't know how i'm going to do it in the summer...

I used this idea once for something similar. The way I did it was to put a small can inside of a larger one and filled the bigger one with sand for insulation. I burned the wet grass in the small one and the outside of the big one never got hot.
