Need help picking a vine.

Grandma used to have flowering green beans. They vined and grew green beans like regular beans with the addition of beautiful red flowers. Not perennial, but beans are easy.

This is the scarlet runner I mentioned

The beans grow HUGE. SO you have to pick them before the seeds start getting too large. They are tough if you let them get too big.

Are the beans and the Scarlet Runner the same plant? (Sorry, I'm easy to confuse!) haha

Hyacinth bean vine is very pretty and I think you can eat the beans.......not sure. I'm using them this Spring.

You can eat the immature bean pods, I think. Hyacinth bean vines smell so GOOD! Hops like someone else mentioned are great and they are wonderful herbal treatments for sleep disorders and stress disorders. The young shoots are edible like asparagus. Yummy.

Akebia vine, trumpet vine, grapes, and annuals like beans all work well.

I have cypress. It has tiny red flowers all over it, and starts to bloom in June until the frost kills it. The flower drops seeds, and the seeds last thru the winter, and grow new ones. We have had them in the same spot for 10 years. And the hummingbirds LOVE them!

Clematis comes in a huge array of colors and I believe it comes back every year.
