You're right, that poop was not green, but many times it is. She is kept in my basement (which is the same room as my woodstove), so as you'd imagine it can get pretty warm down there. The temp close to the stove is about 80*, the temp where my hen is staying is likely cooler than that because she is farther from my woodstove and lower to the ground.
It is much too cold for my hen to be outside (single digits), so she has to stay in my basement for now.
Do you think this temperature would cause poop like that? And smelly poop too? She doesn't appear hot. She does breathe through her mouth occasionally while sleeping, but it doesn't look like she is panting to me.
Do you think the vet I take my dog to might do a poop sample for my hen?
I don't know of any bird vets around here. Also, I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for a poop sample. But I can at least call and see how much it may cost.
