need help quick update on pg.2

two days ago we found one of our rir hens left eye swollen shut we seperated her from the others, now today when I fed them there is another one whos eye is starting to swell . dh is at work and I am by myself and can not catch her,(back problems) I have duramycin-10 powder and I also have tylan shot form. I don't know what to do. the first one has a very green poop, with a little bit of white in it. any suggestions should I just treat all of them with the duramycin or wait. we are cleaning her eye out but it is still swollen after 2 days. No sneezing or coughing or runny nose just swollen eyes. HELP!!

I would giver her the antibiotic shot(I like to give it right in the back of the neck)--not sure what dose, since I have never used that, but I have given my chickens 1/2 cc of Tylan and/or LA-200(oxytetracycline). I would also get eye ointment(terramyacin)--you can get this at Tracetor Supply and most feed stores. It medicated the eye and also keeps it lubricated. You'' want to separate her in case she's contagious! Good luck!

I think the shot of Tylan goes in the breast. Use eyewash from drugstore that hS SOME bORI aCID IN IT.

use the tylan. get about 1cc in the syringe and squirt it down her throat...... do the same for the other birds with symptoms. Also put antiobiotics in the water for the entire flock.

the tylan is injectiable so I can squirt it down their mouth instead of a shot?

yes thats how we treat peafowl ..... injecting them causes muscle tissue to break down.... so i do this with all my birds. fixes them up imediatly.

how long should I leave the antibiotic in their water? I left it in with them for about 4 hours then took it out and will put more in with them in the morning. I don't know but there are more than 2 that have it now just about all of my laying hens except the ones that are in different pens. or should I treat all of them even if they don't have symptoms?

treat them for 3-5 days. Take other water away so they only have access to the medicated water.

what about the tylan-50 how many days should I give that . we have 10 rhr's and 8 nhr and 2 buff rocks in the pen. out of all of them I would say that 8 have swollen eyes maybe a couple more
