Kwik Stop Styptic Powder will stop the bleeding. I use it when I clip our dogs nails a little to short. Used it for parrots also. Toilet paper will also stop a small cut like your hen has.

I use that on my guinea pig!

The bleeding stopped when I applied pressure! I put some Veterycin on it and literally wrapped a band aid around it to keep pressure on it.

I would use the cotton, but not tying dental floss around the toe, or it could possibly cut off circulation. Even Kleenex tissue held against a bleeding wound for a few minutes while holding her and just hanging out will usually stop bleeding. The more upset she is, and the more struggling involved, the more they can bleed. I have had chickens bleed from broken blood feathers, from being pecked on the combs, and other injuries, but never had one keep on bleeding.
