Need help sexing...

Do you mean the black part of the barring? Or that he has more white then black?

The white part of the barring is thicker, making him look lighter. If I could show you a comparison of pics, I would, but can't seem to find any. Try asking speckledhen, one of the mods, for some help.

Just one last post before I try rehoming the barred chicken. All I ever wanted was a barred chicken but I keep getting males erg!

Am I correct in saying that this one is for sure male, no crowing yet but he's still young:

Sorry to say that unless it is an unusual one, your Dom is a male. Check out the description at the bottom of this link to tell the difference. I know how to tell Barred Rocks but wasn't sure about Doms so went to feathersite to see them. Good idea to put this site in your favs so you can go to it for reference, comparisons, etc... http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGD/Doms/BRKDoms.html

The dominique is probably a male. A female would have shadowing on her legs at this age I think. Here's a couple pics of mine at about 6 weeks of age - I was told she's a pullet, but that her comb is not correct:

Edited to say: I really DO need to learn to read the ENTIRE thread before posting... I hadn't seen the latest pics when I posted the above - if this barred chicken (dominique?) was mine, I think I'd hang onto it for a while and watch its development. Wouldn't it's comb and wattles be bigger and redder at this age?

SpeckledHen could probably tell you for sure tho!
