5/6 weeks old 6 black jersey giants. Some have noticeable combs and some dont. I know for sure that one is a rooster... slowest feathering, he is a bit bigger, large red comb and wattles for his age. There are 3 others whose comb has developed much faster.. any opinions on these?

The one to the left is the known jersey rooster.. 2 other girls(?)look like the one on the right and the other 2 have combs and wattles like the picture below.

The known rooster was the only one to feather slowly and actually struts around and barrels his chest.

Guess its been a while since Ive been on here! It was a roo, but so were the ones whose tail feathers feathered faster, so I don't think it meant anything in this case :)

It's really hard to tell until they reach puberty, isn't it? Anyway, at long last, I think I've figured out the breed of my pullets. The cockerel died suddenly at 11 weeks old. He had feathered legs and feet so I was hoping he was a Black Copper Marans, but I'll never be sure now. He was a very nice bird, too. The two pullets are looking a lot like Black Stars: green and purple iridescent black feathers, with gold-laced necks and heads. At nearly 15 weeks now, they're quite large with lots of personality.

We're adding them to our 16-month-old Barred Rock flock, which has been an interesting experience. At first the pullets were readily accepted in the coop with nary a squawk, but the very next day the pecking order procedure began in earnest. My wife gets upset to see it, but I tell her they've got to sort it out by themselves. It's been four days and they're still at it. Hope it ends soon.
