My 4 chickens are about 3 weeks old now and I think I’m done finishing up the coop and run all I need to do major is build the netting structure on top of the run. But what else do I need this is my bare bones set up I’m gonna make it look nicer in the future but now it just needs to work and keep the chickens safe. What I’m thinking about doing it’s putting chicken wire on top of the coop under the tarp and in the future adding some troughs to put oyster shells and grit. The log in the coop will have a 3 gallon waterer because it’s really hot where I live and the nesting box is a old rat cage that I manipulated to look like that I could also use a 27 gallon Costco tote but my biggest concern is I’m taking up too much space in their coop area and if the dust bath is big enough it’s just a Costco 27 gallon tote. I also saw this YouTube video of this guy using a dog kennel for a coop, I thought it was genius because where I live it gets to 100 during the summer almost everyday so they have a lot of air coming in. It never snows in my area and rarely goes down to 30 degrees in winter nights

I don’t understand your question(s).

I have special netting on too of my runs.
The largest run is covered with netting for birds of prey. Rats have bitten through it where it was near to the ground. So I added hwc up to 1 meter high.

The smaller run has enforced cat netting.
I don’t know if they would suit your purposes and keep all predators out where you live.

I noticed you left the door area open. Not sure of what predators you're worried about but I'd continue the chicken wire across that area as well. If you have raccoons they will reach in and hurt/kill chickens for sport.
I originally used 4x6 fencing (leftover from another project)...but sadly...one of my young girls jumped up, got her head through the fence and snapped her own neck. Broke my heart😪. I immediately fortified the whole enclosure with chicken wire - door and all! And don't forget a lock that little raccoon fingers can't open!!

Chicken wire isn't remotely raccoon proof, because of their strength and dexterity they can pull it apart. Chicken wire is strictly to keep chickens in, it really doesn't do much else.

Well the point of the netting in my run is to just keep out hawks since I have a lot of big ones in my area but the coop I put chicken wiring all on the top now for raccoons and stuff for rats I’m just not gonna have feed in their coop only in the run hopefully that should be fine if

I got the chicken wire before I knew about all of this but yes in the future I will replace it 100% with hardwire mesh right now the chickens are still in my house so it’s not a issue
