Need help with a Bully!!!*****Update*****

Peepers are blinders or goggles. They attach to the beak and keep the chicken from seeing directly in front. They can eat fine, but stop pecking other chickens. Someone one here has great pictures of their birds wearing peepers. She glued googley eyes and hats on them.

The thought of peepers bother me, I guess because my flock free ranges and I don't want to restrict their vision in any way.

I am just returning a bully hen back to the flock after a 2-1/2 day time out. She was allowed no contact of any sort with the others during this time. She is very subdued and her "bawks" are very soft and sound full of sadness. She is very, very. docile at this point. I kept her in a large dog cage (1.5' x 2') with a 2x4 to stand on (wired in water and food containers) in the barn. Lights on during the day and a small night light at night.. Used an old sheet over the top and three sides to help keep warmth in at night. I figure I should see shortly if it worked. If not, back we go for the full 3 -5 days. She laid one egg during the time in jail instead of the normal two when out.

Well, that did not take long. I let her out of jail and within minutes, she started right back to her bullying nature and disrupted the peace of the flock. She went right back to jail. She will be there another 2-1/2 days.

Day 4 of the bully being in isolation. She is doing quite well so far. Of course I have been spoiling the heck out of her by letting her come into the house to hang out with us. I have also been letting her free range in the yard - while the other girls are free ranging in a separate fenced in area. So they can see each other but no contact allowed. I hope this works!!
