I think one of my golden comets has a cold. I have heard her sneeze occassionally over the past couple of weeks. Searching the forums seemed to indicate that wasn't a big deal especially if it was right after changing out the hay or whatever.

For the last couple of days when I would gather the eggs after coming home from work, she would be in the nest box instead of on the roost with the other girls. Today, she was quite sneezy, sounds wheezy and made a few sounds that sound almost like a honk. Fortunately, I did not see any discharge from her nostrils or anything else odd about her appearance. She was drinking from the waterer when I came into the house a bit ago.

Based upon my search of the forums, it sounds like she's got a some sort of respiratory problem or at the very least a cold and I need to treat her with Tylan...which it sounds like I can get from my TSC. This will be my first "handling" of any of the chickens as they have all been well and disinterested in interacting with me at all.

I can get the medication tomorrow and I THINK...if she's in the nest box again when I get home, I could snag her up. But quite honestly, I have no idea about how to handle her or how to administer the medication. Any advice or help would be much appreciated! I would greatly appreciate step by step instructions if someone is willing. I'll be doing this by myself as I'm a single gal until the boyfriend can get out here this weekend. But quite honestly, I would hate to put off treatment for that long.

Thanks for the help!
