Need help with breed and gender.

Hello,
I am very new to chickens. My mom's neighbor gave her a chick last month and we decided we would take it. We were told that it's a hen. This first picture is of the chick about 6-10 weeks old, I think. I have no clue as to what breed this chick is.

As it grows, I find myself wondering if indeed it's a female. Today, I noticed a few shiny feathers on the wings and just above the tail (saddel?)



This picture below is recent. At about 3 or 4 months of age. It likes to get up on the fence every evening at about 7pm if I don't put it away fast enough in it's coop. We planned on getting a couple more hens soon. But I'd love to have some thoughts? Can you tell from these photos if we have a girl or boy and any idea of the breed?

rooster. the hackle(neck) feathers are pointed and shiny, same thing on the saddle (back). As to breed, looks like a mix, he has a pea/single mixed comb.

its a cockerel. it has those nice dark red patches on the wings breed looks like a mix

My suspicions have been confirmed. Now what am I supposed to do with him? What age will he start crowing? I don't think I can keep him if he crows. Beware of gifts from the neighbors!:/

if you cant keep him find a home for him as all roosters will grow at some point...some will start to crow at 1 day old while some may not crow till almost a year old

I was able to re-home my roo to a young couple starting a farm that i found on Craigslist. They actually posted an add looking for a rooster. Its worth a try.

Looks like a roo! Have to rehome 3 of mine! SO sad!!! Sorry!!! Giving him back to the breeder man I bought him from! He has a little miniature chicken farm in his back yard!!
