Okay I have a welsummer that started pipping night before last. Well you could tell it was really having a hard time, but finally got out 3/4 out of the shell and my other 4 babies in the incubator 'helped' it out the rest of the way. I didnt want to open the bator so I couldnt stop the other chicks from stepping all over her. The more she peeped loudly the more they walked all over her and pecked her. This morning before I went to work I checked on them and I could tell she had something dry and sticky all over her. I just got home from work and she was still dry and sticky. So I gave her a warm wet towel bath and tried getting as much as the gunk off of her as I could. I took a warm towel out of the dryer and wrapped her in it and put her under a light. I gave her a little water to drink and she loved that. My problem is..I just checked on her again(about 8 min. after her bath) and she is still pretty gunky. What can I do? Is there anything else I should do? Im about to make her a little splint as one of her toes are curled and she cant walk on it.
