Hello hopefully someone out there can help. I've had barred rock chickens for about a year now with no problems. Today I picked up 12 more pullets I was told they were 20 weeks old. Some of them were missing a few feathers due to overcrowding but after I got them home I found they were as tall as my older hens but they are severely under weight.

I isolated them from my flock and fed and watered them. They are overly aggressive towards the food and are constantly fighting. They have about 600 sq ft in their pen. And I noticed a clear runny poop from them.

Could their aggressiveness be from being under fed or will they always be this way? And what causes clear poo?
Thanks

Some folks on here also informed me that clear, runny poop can happen when the hens are too hot and drink a lot of water

It sounds like they might be under fed. Try adding more feed. I also try to supplement with fresh cut grass. If possible. If not possible, a pile of hay is good as well. It keeps the chickens busy scratching in them. If it is grass, they sometimes get bugs in them as well. Keeps them from picking at each other.
Agressiveness could also stem from overcrowding or boredom.
Again, the boredom factor can be reduced with grass/hay for them to pick at!

Thanks for the information. They have settled in a little bit. They just seem "not well" maybe because I raised mine from day one. Hopefully in the next few weeks they will come around!
