You also want to discourage them from sleeping in the nest boxes as they will soil them and when eggs eventually do start getting laid, you don't want them being laid in a poopy nest box. Do you have a roosting bar in the coop and if so, is it higher than the nest boxes. They usually like to roost as high as possibly, so if the nest boxes are above the roost, they will often roost on or in them instead.
