I have a Pekin hen that has been on her nest of eggs for almost 30 days or so. She only came off once or twice a day to eat and drink but she always went back. I noticed last week that she had pushed an egg or two out of her nest. This afternoon she is now where to be found, her nest is still full and there are two eggs about 8 ft from the nest with small holes in them. Anyone have any suggestions as to what could be going on?

Mama ducks know when eggs aren't viable so they push those eggs out of the nest.

How old is she? I have heard of them abandoning their nests. I don't have any experience with broody ducks so I'll tag some other members that might be able to help.

I would candle the eggs - they may be hatching. Find her - sitting ducks are vulnerable to attack.

You might also consider a predator may have tried to grab the egg, or another duck could have pecked at it.
