I have a hen that isn't acting right. She is slow moving and usually just stands there all puffed out in a little ball. When I bring out treats she comes running over and slowly pecks at the treats but isn't eating any. A put a bowl of food on front of her and she did the same thing. She is drinking. Something I found odd yesterday, the four chickens where out, I looked outside and saw her standing in the pen by herself sleeping. I've never seen any of my hens do this before. They love being out of the pen so they don't go back in unless they want food, I put them in or if it's bed time.

I have two older hens that are laying and two younger hens that are not yet. I went from two eggs a day now to just one. So I think she stopped laying as well. I'm going to put up some pics of her.

How is her breathing? Does her tail bob up and down when she breathes? Is there any sounds during breathing like a wheeze or a squeek? Is their any mucus present? Coughing or sneezing? Is her crop emptying correctly? If her only symptoms are lethergie and puffing up and sleepiness it could be a sign of coccidosis. Older birds can still get cocci and bloody poo does not have to be present for them to be infected.if it is cocci you would treat her with corid. But look listen and feel for other clues to help pinpoint what is wrong. If there are other clues please post them. If her breathing is good and no noises when she breathes or coughing or mucus and her crop is emptying and she has no masses you can feel on her body and no smell about her and her ONLY symptoms are being puffed up and sleepy my guess would be cocci. Take a look online at coccidosis and look at the symptoms. Keeping in mind bloody poo does NOT have to be present for them to be infected. If you agree that her symptoms are similiar and match then I would treat with Corid.but do look it up and see what you think. I wish you the best.

I have never de-wormed them. I went out and bought Wazine today. She still acting the same. I brought her inside to monitor her.

Looking at her last poop, its hard to really tell, however, it looks like worms. I hope not tape worm. I see small pink stuff. Could you take a sample to a local vet to have it checked.
