need help with possible sick chicken

Can you tell me what's wrong with her by looking at her and give me suggestions as what to do? It has been in the 20s here lately and she has been acting sluggish.
Unfortunatly i have a 2 1/2 week old chick doing the same thing and after i of of research im almost positive she has cocciosis. Can anyone help me with medication to give her. i read i should give her corid but is that safe? and sorry about your chicken

Corid is safe to give chicks, especially if you see any blood in their poo. Treat all of your chicks at the same time. One teaspoonful of powder or 2 tsp. liquid Corid in 1 gallon of water for 5 days. Give probiotics and vitamins in the water after treatment. With chicks this young, you may want to give them a half-strength preventative treatment 3 weeks after the first treatment.

thank you so much that really helps! im going to get some corid at walmart..there isnt any blodd in her poop but she is puffed out in the chest and a lot less ative then she used to be and she hasnt be eating/drinking as much... and she sits down a lot more... does this sound like coccidiosis to you?

Clucks, how is she doing? Two of mine are showing similar symptoms, so I'm giving them Nutri-drench *good stuff* and medicating their water with Sulmet. The Co-op told me to use that, and it cured my SS chick when she had coccidia.

Corrid/ amprolium , is a B group vitamin inhibitor, it works by starving the coccidias . Do not feed any vitamin or electrolyte supplements whilst treating or you run the risk of negating the amprolium. If you don't have corrid on hand, you can administer butter milk in the short term. It is best to treat at full strength for 7 days, then 1/2 strength for 7 days and then 1/4 strength for a further 7 days. Treat everyone.

WalMart doesn't sell Corid (amprollium)--you will find it at farm stores like Tractor Supply in the cattle medicine section. There is only blood in the poop of certain strains of coccidia. Yes your chick sounds like she has it. I would caution again using sulmet as a first choice with coccidiosis because it is very hard on chickens and only treats 3 strains instead of all 9 that Corid treats. If I could not get get Corid, I would use the sulmet.

Turns out it's egg bind. Our neighbor felt the egg inside of her. Hopefully it will pass, with the liquid our neighbor put inside of her.

If she is eggbound you will need to float her in a warm bath. Massaging towards the vent for 20 minutes or more. Once she relaxes she will probably poop and get things moving. If she is prone to egg binding I would recommend feeding generic sardines in olive oil once a week.
