Need help with Shih Tzu training

Quote:
He's ok. His face is doing fine. Luckily they were puncture wounds versus
rips.

I understand how people love what I refer to as "Chit dogs". Many are
nice and very cool while many get that small dog attitude, mostly inspired
by doggy anxiety.

Personally I would love a Westie but like many of the other small dogs they
are super smart and training can be a challenge, not because the dog is
dumb, but because they are smart and have a lot of energy.

Best of luck to all of you on your ShihZhu's. If they turn out mean you can
always eat them.

We have a larger dog and my Shih Tzu really goes after her. I have to stop him and hold him so he knows I'm the boss.

I found out he can't eat anything but puppy food because it gives him the runs, if you know what I mean.

I have been taking him out as soon as he gets up and after each nap. I try and feed him 3 times a day but if I'm not watching his food my other dog eats it.

I put my other dogs food up so he can't get it. I did put his poop outside but not the paper towels. I will do that today but it's snowing and the wind is blowing so bad it would blow away.

His crate has enought room for him to turn around in. I don't think he has gone in it so that's a good thing.

Last night he went to the door and poope on the floor. I'm bad, I missed it.

Anyway, thanks for all your help. He Shiloh seems lik a very smart dog. I love him to peices. All I can do is watch the dog. No housework for me for the next 2 weeks. My last dog it only took 2 weeks to train. I guess I can't compair the two.

PC, what happened to your son?

My motherinlaw rescued a Shihtzu mix. He had small dog syndrome
and nipped often at people. My son was petting him a few weeks
ago and the dog got spooked and bit him in the right cheek.

He has 4 punctures on his face and had extreme bruising.

My MIL, at the vets reccomendation, had the dog put down. I told
her not to do it but she was afraid the dog was too dangerous and
could harm one of the grandchildren.

We are a family of dog rescuers. Our 2 dogs came from the Humane
Society and our third is an 18 year old dog I took when her owner,
one of my closest friends, passed away this year. If anyone has
any questions about that I suggest they have the courage to contact
me directly.

I have 4 shih tzu's they have been really easy to train. One I got was older and had been mistreated and within 6 months I had retrained all of her bad habbits. Two are still puppies but they are completely houstrained. I got both of them back in August. I love the breed.
