So this guy was the 1st silkie (or thats what my local feed store said) I bought, initially they said he was a blue, then someone told me partridge, I even had someone say calico ( I wasn't aware of calico projects with silkies but I'm still new) so im turning to the experts here since they haven't failed me once with their answers.. TIA

Ps. Also in the picture my silkie hen, I believe she is partridge but fell free to correct me if I'm wrong. Their names are Maui and Moana

Wow that's a red comb :0 he looks very silkie otherwise but not showable, feedstores seem to like their red combed silkies haha. I'd say he's a blue partridge or a regular partridge, it's hard to tell from this angle but I vote blue partridge : )

Thanks for your reply. I had a family member who used to raise silkies mention something about the mega red comb. Here are some more shots of him a couple months ago when I got him maybe easier to see

Yeah I think he's a blue partridge :) he's much lighter than my black silkie. I can't remember if the red comb is like a hatchery thing or a cross breeding thing, either way besides the comb he's a very handsome silkie boy! If you're not showing birds standard doesn't really matter as long as birds are healthy <3 he's pretty cool looking and unique!

For the moment they're mostly pets, and something for me to do,, all this started by me being bored during this Covid 19 mandatory quarantine and what started with 2 silkies now includes a flock of 24, between silkies, cochins, delawares , easter eggers and some mix breeds. Nobody warned me about not being able to only stop at 2 😂🤣😂🙈🙈

Okay, so here are my Silkies. All are 3.5-4 months in these pics.

Marble - Either blue or silver partridge

Shadow - she doesn’t photograph well because she is a ninja floof

I'm really liking disco and shadow, but the colors on marble are gorgeous 😲😲

They are all so different and Disco is my only rooster for a flock of 12 girls. 4 more to be added soon (just Cage in cage integration), as they are almost 4 weeks old.

Marble is one of the lowest in the heirarchy right now, at least from what I’ve seen. However, she is a lingerer and slow poke who isn’t in a hurry, so I doubt she is bothered.

She does like to snuggle the other silkies at night though.
