Need help with WHT in homemade incubator w/ diagram

It takes 2 60 watt bulbs working in unison to keep my bator were it needs to be. I put it in the middle so i would get actual air temp and not heat from the bulb. I payed no attention to the temps on the WHT. I adjusted them until the bator was to the temp i wanted.

Hi Barilea farm,

Thanks for chiming in! I see you have the same fan that I have. My cooler is very well insulated and that little red fan, all by itself with no light bulb, keeps the temps at a steady 95 degrees.

So I'm thinking, 5 degrees worth of light bulb heat. Not much. Changed the bulb to another type, maybe it is flourecent, they have changed so much.(Pardon the spelling) THe bulb is not very hot, I can touch it.

Well if you look at my incubator you can see that the fan blows air across the light bulb and to the water heater thermostat.

Here, I will give you a video on how to modify your thermostat if your thermostat is like mine.
Here is a pic of my thermostat you can see the holes in my thermostat in this picture.

Hope this helps!

Using the 40 watt energy saver bulb with the WHT directly over the bulb(1/2 - 3/4" between) the range in temp is 98 -104. THe cycling seems slow, or at least not what I expected for a rate; the light is on for a long time then off for a long time. ( I didn't actually measure the time of the cycles, but I can take of lid, check thermometers and adjust things, and it stays off or on.

Changed back to the incandesent candleabra bulb. Hoping for a faster cycling. THe WHT is about as close as I can get it.

ANy thoughts or ideas??

Quintin, haven't cked the video yet--dial up is very very slow. May get desperate tonight to suffer thru the ordeal.

Where are you taking the reading from when it comes to the temp? By chance did you move the fan? My next question lol do you have the metal back of the WHT toward the light?

This is the way to do it, follow the second video and read this and you'll have 1 degree or less variation
