Miss Prissy has inspired me to cook.. I even started my bread starter today..

Anyway, I am looking for something that we can make as "presents" (for Christmas) for my SOs family. We are on a budget, so I thought this would be nice.. I was planning to make popcorn balls but his grandpa cannot have the kernels or nuts so.. that's out. Which also knocks out homemade peanut butter cookies.

Does anyone know any good recipes that I could put together before the 7th of December and that would look nice in some type of tin? (must be able to survive a 7 hour drive..) No nuts/popcorn, please!

Thank you.

I used to make fudge w/ marshmallow cream. Then use the cream jars to fill w/fudge and decorate the lids. Everyone loved it and always expected more each holiday. Also little mini loaves of pumpkin,banana-nut etc. went over great. Just wrap in colorful saran and slap on a bow. Happy Holidays

Thanks for the ideas.

I'll definitely consider them! Can't wait to see what everyone else suggests too.

Check out the holiday recipe post I posted a Date nut bread that is always welcome its an old recipe that my mother in law gave me years ago. You can always leave out the nuts I really prefer it without nuts anyway. Get some colored saran wrap and your good to go.
When my daughter needs gifts on a budget she makes chocolate cookies and puts them in cookie tins for everyone.

Toffee would be good! I'd have to look at the recipe and make sure it would be something I could do, but I really like the idea of toffee.

I have a super easy fudge that is great as a gift.

Also - chocolate dipped pretzels.

Brownies.

Dry bean soup mixes in large jars with a recipe card.

Etc!

Oh oh, MP can I have the fudge recipe... and the brownies?

I am not sure I could use it for his Grandpa (he's a diabetic, so I'm not sure..) but for his mom I could.. and I love fudge.. so maybe I'll make me some for the holidays, hehe.

I probably sound dumb.

But my Mom is the worst cook ever.. and I've never really been taught how to do a lot of cooking and stuff like that. But I want to learn.
